Jay Leno files for conservatorship over longtime wife Mavis
According to documents obtained by Fox News Digital, Jay Leno has filed a petition with a Los Angeles court to become the conservator over his wife Mavis’ estate. Leno cited Mavis’ “major neurocognitive disorders (including dementia)” as the reason for her lacking the capacity to execute the estate plan. Despite their “loving marriage for more than 43 years,” Leno stated that he has always handled their finances and wishes to ensure that Mavis is provided for in the event of his passing. The conservatorship process began in November, as per legal documents, and Leno’s representatives have not yet responded to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
The documents further state that the conservatorship estate will not initially be funded with any assets and is solely established to file a petition for substituted judgment to ensure Mavis’ estate plan is established, and her future care is provided for under the terms of a living trust. It is emphasized that Jay is fully capable of continuing to support Mavis physically and financially, as he has done throughout their marriage. Additionally, Mavis consents to the conservatorship of her estate and Jay’s appointment as her conservator, expressing no preference for anyone else to be appointed in Jay’s place.
