However, in July 2005, while filming the Lifetime TV-movie “Mind Over Murder” in Ottawa, she met actor Dean McDermott, who was then married to actress Mary Jo Eustace. They started a relationship on the night they met. Consequently, Spelling and Shanian decided to go their separate ways in October 2005, and Shanian filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce was finalized on April 20, 2006.

Less than a month after her divorce was official, Tori Spelling married Dean McDermott on May 7, 2006, in a private ceremony held in Wakaya, Fiji. In a beautiful gesture, the couple renewed their vows on May 8, 2010, in Beverly Hills, California.

In June 2023, McDermott announced that he and Spelling decided to separate after 18 years together in a now-deleted Instagram post.
