She has a younger brother named Randy, who was once an actor and now works as a life coach. Spelling’s family has Jewish roots, with ancestors from Russia and Poland. Her middle name, Davey, is a nod to her paternal grandfather, David.

Early in her career, at the age of six, Tori Spelling received acting lessons from a coach hired by her father. As a result, she landed guest roles on various television series including The Love Boat, T. J. Hooker, Hotel, Fantasy Island, Vega$, and Saved by the Bell. When she turned 17, she secured the role of Donna Martin on the popular show Beverly Hills, 90210, which was co-produced by her father’s company, Spelling Television. Tori Spelling portrayed Donna throughout the entire series and earned two Young Artist Award nominations.
While working on Beverly Hills, 90210, she also appeared in several made-for-television films such as Co-ed Call Girl (1996), A Friend to Die For (1994), and Mother, May I Sleep with Danger? (1996). Additionally, she acted in independent films like The House of Yes (1997) and Trick (1999).
From 2006 to 2009, Spelling starred in the VH1 sitcom So Notorious, which humorously parodied her public image.
