A former amateur player for Lancashire in county darts, Tony Green became the BBC’s lead commentator for the BDO World Professional Darts Championship. He played a significant role in the darts community as a British Darts Organisation (BDO) official, notably during the dispute that led to the formation of the Professional Darts Corporation. Additionally, he served as chair of the International Darts Players’ Association (IDPA), representing players aligned with the BDO.
Green, alongside Sid Waddell, provided darts commentary for the BBC from 1978 to 1994. While Waddell left the BBC in 1994, Green continued until the 2016 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships, the final event televised by the BBC.
