Nigel Harman Withdraws from Strictly Come Dancing Due to Injury
Tonight on Strictly Come Dancing, there was an unexpected turn of events as actor Nigel Harman had to withdraw from the competition due to an injury, resulting in no elimination or public vote. The Casualty star was originally slated to perform a Charleston in the quarterfinal alongside professional partner Katya Jones.
During the opening of the show, host Claudia Winkleman conveyed the unfortunate news, stating, “Unfortunately, Nigel has sustained an injury… and has had to withdraw from the competition.” While viewers won’t be voting this week, they will have the opportunity to do so next week to determine who advances to the final.
Co-host Tess Daly clarified that despite the absence of public voting, the judges would still score the dance, and those scores would be carried over to the following week.
Initial reports indicated a leg injury for Harman, but the BBC later clarified that it was, in fact, a rib injury.
Harman, addressing the situation on the show, mentioned, “I’ve done something to my rib basically, and it’s quite painful.” He explained that the injury occurred while he was “leaping off a rostrum, about to be caught by some very handsome men. As I flew, I was Peter Pan. As I landed, I was in A&E.”
The remaining celebrities in the competition include actress Ellie Leach, tennis star Annabel Croft, theatre and TV star Layton Williams, and EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier.
