Career
In the 1982 general election, Mutang embarked on his political career, representing BN as the nominee for the Bukit Mas federal seat. He secured victory uncontested, marking his debut in Parliament. His reelection in 1986 saw him successfully defend the Bukit Mas seat against independent candidate Mohd Bujang Mohd Yassin.
Beyond politics, Mutang holds various roles, including membership in the Supreme Council of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) within the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition. Notably, he is the first Dayak and Sarawak indigenous President of the Dewan Negara in Malaysia. Additionally, Mutang is actively engaged in numerous organizations, serving as President of the Orang Ulu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OUCCI) and Vice President of the Sarawak Business Federation (SBF). He also plays significant roles in legal associations and serves as an honorary consul of Romania in Sarawak since January 12, 2017.
