Jessica Simpson’s 6-Year Sobriety Anniversary Snap
Jessica Simpson celebrated her six-year anniversary of sobriety by posting a photo of herself that was taken on the day she made the decision to quit drinking. In the image, the Irresistible singer appears both reflective and melancholic as she sits on a couch in a pink tracksuit, gazing into the distance while a ray of light illuminates her face. This photo was originally shared on her Instagram grid on November 1, 2021, to mark four years of sobriety, and she recently re-shared it on her Story with the simple caption, “6 years ago.”
“This person in the early morning of Nov 1, 2017 is an unrecognisable version of myself,” she wrote in the original caption.
“I had so much self-discovery to unlock and explore. I knew in this very moment I would allow myself to take back my light, show victory over my internal battle of self respect, and brave this world with piercing clarity.”
The star of “Newlyweds,” aged 43, clarified that she chose to quit drinking alcohol because it drained her, causing her mind and heart to constantly dwell on the same issues, which was mentally exhausting.
“I wanted to feel the pain so I could carry it like a badge of honour,” she continued. “I wanted to live as a leader does and break cycles to advance forward- never looking back with regret and remorse over any choice I have made and would make for the rest of my time here within this beautiful world.”
After achieving sobriety, Simpson, who later shed 45kg, confessed that her problem wasn’t just drinking but rather her struggle with self-love and self-worth. However, she managed to rediscover herself and make a fresh start.
“I have made nice with the fears and I have accepted the parts of my life that are just sad. I own my personal power with soulful courage,” she concluded.
“I am wildly honest and comfortably open. I am free.”
