Jim Harbaugh played college football at Michigan from 1983 to 1986 and had a 14-season career in the National Football League (NFL) from 1987 to 2000. He spent the majority of his playing career (1987-1993) with the Chicago Bears.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, to Jack Harbaugh, a football coach, Jim lived in various states due to his father’s coaching assignments. He attended high school in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Palo Alto, California. After graduating in 1982, he returned to Ann Arbor, enrolled at the University of Michigan, and played quarterback for the Wolverines. In 1986, he led Michigan to the Rose Bowl and was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.
Selected by the Chicago Bears in the first round of the 1987 NFL Draft, Harbaugh played as a quarterback for the Bears (1987-1993), the Indianapolis Colts (1994-1997), the Baltimore Ravens (1998), and the San Diego Chargers (1999-2000).
